A Magical Musical Journey: Nordic Fairytales for Children

The Atherton Tablelands Chamber Music Festival invites young audiences and families to a free enchanting event celebrating the magic of Nordic fairytales through music and storytelling. Journey through a flower garden, to a toad's marshy habitat; a damp forest edge. Walk through leaves trees and down into a mole's underground burrow before rising into a meadow in spring.

Children will be transported into the heart of Scandinavian folklore through words of Hans Christian Andersen accomponied by the music of Edvard Grieg, Carl Nielsen, Vagn Holmboe, and Jean Sibelius, bringing these stories to life with soaring melodies, playful dances, and dramatic soundscapes. The performance will introduce young listeners to the beauty of classical music in an engaging and imaginative way, blending narration with live instruments.
